Auto compressor re-manufacturing is a process of recovering a damaged compressor and is different from other compressor recovery processes like refurbishing and repairing because of its completeness. This procedure involves recycling the damaged compressor using other parts while ensuring that the inherent weaknesses the compressor had is removed. The final product is at times better when compared to the original compressor. There are several types of compressor re-manufacturing; the first is re-manufacturing without losing the brand identity. This involves the compressor being built based on the original design by the brand manufacturers. The compressor is given new machine warranty and enhancements. Any default within the original design is removed as the compressor is refurbished and the parts are replaced or upgraded. The second type involves re-manufacturing by re-coating the damaged compressor parts. Some parts of the compressor, when damaged, are expensive to buy and replace them. The compressor is first disassembled into different components after being tested and inspected for the extent of damage on the compressor. Then each component part undergoes through unique various cleaning process. All the damaged and worn out parts are replaced automatically with new parts, and the unchanged parts are reworked, and checked back to the required OEM specifications. Then the air compressor is finally reassembled. The compressor re-manufacturing process is not completed until a bench mark test is done on the compressor, and it passes. The PASS certificate is issued and finally it gets shipped back plus the certificate to the installer.
Re-manufacturing an auto compressor saves a lot of money, up to 80% of the cost of manufacturing a new compressor can be saved. Re-manufacturing also save the car owner the cost of replacing the air compressor as it is costly to purchase a new one.
